“It is unusual,” said Cristina, “for a revolution to call for fewer rights for people, not more.” - Cassandra Clare, Lord of Shadows
Human rights support the basic rights, which are manifested in our right to live, to be healthy, to be educated, freedom of speech and thoughts, and equal rights.
Some organizations protest on Human Rights Day to alert people of circumstances of unrecognition of the human rights in parts of the world where human rights are not respected and not considered to be important.
Human Rights Day is celebrated annually all over the world on 10th of December every year.
The date was declared to honor the “United Nations General Assembly's adoption and proclamation”, on the 10th of December 1948, of the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)”, the first global pronouncement of the human rights and one of the first major achievements of the UN.
On Human Rights Day, cultural events are also held to inform people of their rights and why it's important to hold on to them.
However, the finest way to celebrate Human Rights Day is to get out there and make a difference, for example by making a donation to one of the organizations that work towards human rights.
Because as Martin Luther King said, “A right delayed is a right denied.”.
